The cottages are on Croft No.3, the home of Helen, Alistair and their family. Built originally by the MacFarlan family in the late 19th century, the main house on the croft provided accommodation for the post office, a shop, petrol and a base for a mobile shop together with B & B in the summer months. For a number of years in the ‘60s and ‘70’s the same 20 visitors came for the Glasgow Fair at the end of July and helped to bring in the hay.
The stone self catering cottages are graded 4 Star (Visit Scotland grading). Both are non smoking cottages.
Shared facilities include a washing machine, dryer and deep freeze, full access to the croft, trampoline and storage facilities for bicycles and kayaks. A cot and a high chair are available for families with babies and toddlers. Pets are welcome (for a small extra charge). They are free to roam on the croft walks but need to be kept on a lead once away from the croft.
The cottages are sufficiently distant from each other to provide privacy yet are close enough for 2 families to enjoy a joint family holiday together with the security and knowledge that the children can be free range as they bounce on the trampoline, play in the Wendy house or have an adventure exploring the croft.
