In the ‘50s and ‘60s this former byre housed a dairy, garage, stabling for ponies and overflow sleeping accommodation in the loft. The merman in the wall by the cottage, was carved by a friend. There is a tale we heard once about a Merman in search of a Kelpie (seal person) wife spotted in the loch many moons ago…The cottage has been carefully renovated with attention to history and architectural detail. The wood- panelled, open-plan living area, provides a comfortable space in which to relax after a day on the hills, cosseted by thick walls and the cosy crackle of a fire in the wood-burning stove. There is also a TV/ DVD with Sky free view, radio and CD player. Board games and a selection of books for all tastes provide entertainment for that odd rainy day. Tiles in the kitchen were hand-made in the local pottery, others were brought back by friends from India. The kitchen is equipped with an electric hob, combination micro wave, fridge, sink and all necessary crockery and utensils. Climb the wooden spiral staircase to the main bedroom and enjoy the double bed with crisp cotton sheets and stunning views over the loch. The smaller bedroom has 2 single beds with views of the garden, croft walk and hills and listen for the trickle of the burn which runs by the cottage.

There are 2 bathrooms: a small one upstairs and a wet room with shower and sink downstairs. Background heating is from night storage heaters, electricity is included in the rental as is bed linen.

A shared outbuilding has a washing machine, tumble dryer, extra freezer space, as well as space for bikes, kayaks etc. Extra wood is available for a small extra charge.
